“If the city is a text, how shall we read it? “
Joyce Carol Oates
The city, as Oates asserts, is a text that requires diverse strategies to interpret and to process this experience. Warren contemplates Carol Oates proposition through a dense array of structures, clustered claustrophobically together, worlds squirreled within worlds. This is both a model gone wrong and a poetic experience of the dense and regularized urban streetscape through which we pass every day.
