Cameron MacDonald : Liquidation (Invasive Species)

April 18 - May 1, 2008
Liquidation is and ongoing project by Vancouver artist Cameron MacDonald. It examines various issues such as over fishing, globalization and food security by imagining a world where all commercial fisheries have died out, and greedy corporations have caught and canned all that is left in the sea. With tongue in cheek the artist has invented companies, brands and corporations and pretends to sell distasteful-looking fish products whose copy cheerfully glosses over their shortcomings as human food while candidly revealing the long list of contaminants they contain.
For its Victoria debut, Liquidation will feature three brand new products--one corporation's enterprising solution to the problem of invasive aquatic species.
