Serina Zapf : so I went to my grandmothers

Thu. June 27th 2013 - Fri. June 28th 2013
a performance piece

June 27th at dusk, Serina will be hosting a storytelling evening in the oaks above Cumberland street on the rocks of Playfair park. Bring instruments, a jar and memories of childhood to share, or you may join us just to listen.

June 28th at dawn Serina will begin her performance, walking between her Grandmother’s homes then to the top of the Bastion Square parkade to complete her performance. This durational performance will be accompanied by live updates so that you can find out where Serina is at if you wish to join us for any point along the way. These updates will be available on the MOCL facebook page or the event page.

Serina would also like to invite you to document the performance through writing, drawing or recording your experience of it afterwards. If you are interested please email [email protected].

Serina’s practice incorporates performance, social practice, video and photography. Playful and disruptive of the normative through creatively intervening into a space and transforming it's possibilities through the poetic and absurd Serina also seeks to prefigure alternative ways to create community. Serina will be involved with the Unist’ot’en spring camp this May, was one of the organizers of the recent settler decolonization Teach In and can be found every other Thursday at the A Freeskool “Unsettling Conversations” workshops. You can view Serina’s past work at serinazapf.com.
