Liam Lloyd : Imaginary Friends, A Portrait Study

ALL DAY>ALL NIGHT>ALL THE TIME
In this body of work, my focus has been on using shape and colour in new ways as I discover different mediums including water-based oils. I am constantly influenced by the human spirit; the struggles and blessings, the joys and sadness that surround everyday interactions and connections. Through this spirit, my focus of this work has been on portraiture. I often work very late at night, after my day job of being a dad and my evening job of being a cook ends. These characters become my ‘imaginary friends”; I find myself comforted as I discover and paint the characters late into the night, never really quite alone in the studio. This is why the paintings touch on real and human qualities but are founded in imagination.
