Opening reception: May 31, 2019, 7-10pm
Viewing: Sat, June 1, 1-5pm, Sun, June 2, 1-5pm
An exhibition of collages that created from an archive of artworks dating back to 1994. The works include watercolour characters and paper landscapes from a book and a stop-motion animation set, cutouts of abstract studies, etchings, scraps of drawings, a colour wheel from design class in first year of art school and more.
The title refers to the quote frequently attributed to Ghandi “an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.” The works in this exhibition were created during a time when the artist was forgiving others, but mostly herself, for acts done while sick with Bipolar 1 Disorder. The collages are meant to illustrate the chaos, confusion and destruction of that time. They are also meant to convey the colourfulness, excitement and beauty of that time.
