Preservation Haul: An Arts Victoria Launch & Celebration: DJ DIMITRI, Jason Verners
PRESERVATION HAUL
An Arts Victoria Launch & Celebration
-------------------------------------------------------------
We're so excited to announce this special event designed BY and FOR our amazing arts community!
You may not yet be familiar with The Victoria Arts Promotion and Preservation Society, but you likely know our work. "VAPPS" is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to increase access to Victoria’s artistic output; both today and for future generations.
We've now guided ArtsVictoria.ca for 6 years, and are now taking over full ownership of the site from the City of Victoria. At the same time, LiveVictoria.com and its 20 years of history in the community are also being turned over and entrusted to VAPPS. The two sites will together form Victoria's most diverse, comprehensive and dynamic cultural calendar, arts hub and living archive - ALL completely artist-led and community-owned.
THE CELEBRATION
-------------------------------------------------------------
To celebrate this occasion we want to gather our communities under one roof. Join us at Sunset Labs at 7pm for music, libations, and conversations. There will be live music, a short presentation about our vision, and a DJ set by Dimitri Demers featuring some local gems.
Any artist or organization representative who pre-registers for the event and has a profile on the site gets a FREE drink ticket. If you don’t have a profile yet, we’ll have terminals on hand to create one - or do it now!:

BRING YOUR ART!
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bring Something for the MEDIA ARCHIVES!: We strive to ensure that the work of our city’s artists endures. Maybe you have a rare local album, a hard drive of concert photos, an iconic poster or photos of street art. We will have archiving stations set up for all types of media. We will safely and securely store the data and grant the owners control of what happens to it. From completely private backup, to free for all, you choose what feels right.
If you have a large amount or exotic format of content that needs to be indexed, please email [email protected] with specifics so we can make sure we are ready to accommodate!

Sunset Labs sits on the traditional, ancestral, unceded homelands of the Lekwungen people, now also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
We endeavour to honour this land and its treaties by strengthening our relationship and responsibilities to them, and we acknowledge and thank the Lekwungen people, on whose land we live, work, create, dance and play.
