“Second Wave” is a painting from a recent body of work by the artist Todd Lambeth. In this series, Todd appropriates logos and designs from moving trucks, bank logos, and optical illusion illustrations. Influenced by historical abstraction and graphic design from the mechanical-industrial realm, the surfaces of these paintings reference marks made both by nature and the human hands of litter bugs and street crews. This work expresses the artist’s interest in the fusion between graphic and expressive means of production, culminating into a series of paintings that questions ideas of beauty and reflect the passage of time.

Todd Lambeth was born in Calgary, Alberta and currently lives in Victoria, British Columbia. He studied visual art at the Ontario College of Art and Design and received his MFA in studio art from the University of Victoria where he currently teaches drawing and painting.
His work has been exhibited across Canada in both commercial galleries and artist-run centres. In recent years he has participated in exhibitions at Winchester Galleries, Victoria, BC, Deluge Contemporary Art, Victoria BC, The Penticton Art Gallery, Penticton BC, Open Space Arts Society, Victoria, BC, and Chernoff Fine Art in Vancouver, BC.
