Your Eyes My Vision

13:30 - 16:00 doors at 13:30
The Victoria Society for Blind Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Casual Living have teamed up to present an Event called “Your Eyes, My Vision” a project funded by Disability Alliance BC!

The Your Eyes, My Vision project has provided an opportunity to encourage, facilitate and showcase “visual” art created by British Columbians who are blind.

The artwork could be anything the artist chose, as long as it was in the realm of visual arts and ideally something that could be experienced by those who are blind and partially-sighted, and engage multiple senses (touch, hearing, smell, vision). The blind participants were paired with a sighted facilitator who assisted them in executing their vision. The art projects completed for the project include paintings, sculptures, blown glass pieces, tapestry weaving, pottery, photo collages, soapstone carving, and sound pieces.

This in-person art show will feature 10 – 12 of the blind “Your Eyes, My Vision” artists. It will be held at The Ministry of Casual Living located at the 750 Fairfield St. entrance.

There will be someone watching out for and greeting folks at this entrance.

Date: Saturday, February 11th from 1:30-4:00.

The art will be showcased and described starting at 2:00, and many of the blind artists and their facilitators will be present.
